Used Apple Ipod 5th Gen
Used Nano Or New Nano, Which IPod is Best For Me?

The Apple iPod nano is the best selling iPod on the market according to Amazon.com. If your going to buy an iPod, it is most likely going to be a nano. Only one question remains, do you want a new or used nano? There are distinct advantages to buying both new and used nano.
Is price a factor?
New nanos can retail for up to $199 depending on the model. Whereas a used nano of the same generation can sell for up to 50% less. Previous generations of nano (1G, 2G) which are no longer available at retail can go for up to 75% or more of the price of a new nano. The advantage in price clearly belongs to the used nano. Especially if you do not require the features of the so called "latest and greatest" generation product.
Are you concerned about product quality?
Many people just feel more comfortable paying retail. You get what you pay for they say. However, I have purchased many used products over the internet, in particular over sites like Ebay and Craigslist and found the product quality to be high. The secret is buying from sellers with a good reputation. Ebay has a good metric to rate seller reputation called Feedback. The higher the sellers feedback, and the greater percentage of their feedback that is positive, the more confidence you can have in buying a used nano or other product from the seller.

Do you care about the manufacturers warranty?
New nanos are guaranteed by Apple for at least one year via the manufacturers warranty. Used nano often have no factory warranty. However, purchasing a later generation used nano might be a good compromise. The 3rd Generation iPod nano was released in September of 2007. Meaning used 3rd gen. devices will often have a portion of their factory warranty remaining!
The iPod nano was first introduced to the market in September of 2005. Since then, Apple has released a new generation of nano approximately once per year. There are now 3 generations of iPod nano on the market in less than 3 years. The used nano market is very strong and even a first gen. nano will likely perform well for many years to come. Many Apple customer’s like to remain on the cutting edge of technology and will sell a slightly used nano for far below the retail price. Apple does not permit retailers to sell a new nano for below MSRP, a used nano is always the best bet for price.
